ADACS special session

We are running a special session around big data and computing at this year’s ASA annual meeting.
The session takes place Tuesday morning and focuses on the computational challenges of data reduction and analysis as well as software development in the era of petascale data and across multi-national surveys.
The session will be opened by our international guest speaker Kelle Cruz, who will speak about “Collaborations in the extreme”. Kelle is the founder of the AstroBetter.com blog and member of the Coordinating Committee for the Astropy Project.

ADACS is sponsoring an informal meet-up for astro coders on Tuesday evening. This networking session will help us better understand who is involved in this space and how we can support you.

Kelle Cruz, our invited keynote speaker for the data and computing session at the ASA annual meeting, is particularly interested to meet people who extensively use astropy.
If you would like to know more about how to get involved with the open source and open development astropy project do come along to chat.

ADACS will be sponsoring pizza and drinks for this event.
